Knowing where you are getting your product from is the name of the game and if you are not careful, you may have no idea what you are really smoking or ingesting. Cannabis products from unlicensed storefronts in New York tested positive for bacteria, heavy metals, toxic pesticides, and other contaminants, according to an industry report.
Lab tests were conducted on marijuana, edibles, and vaporizer cartridges from over 20 different smoke shops in the New York City area, which were all without the proper paperwork to act as a medical marijuana facilities. Products had E. Coli, salmonella, nickel, lead and some were even mislabeled as incorrect strains or products.
New York is pushing hard, per one of our last blogs (link here) to legalize medical marijuana and crack down on all of the illegal shops that seem to pop up, as they are ruining the legitimacy of the business for those trying to enter it justly. The tests were done by Curaleaf, who defended their company’s reputation, saying that they work with regulators and make sure all of their products are safe.
