One of my personal favorite activities to take part in while I’m using cannabis is movie watching. Cannabis can really make you notice all of the aspects of a movie: sound, lighting, score, shot choice, and even casting. All in all, it can make the movie watching experience much more enjoyable. Certain kinds of movies are definitely better than others for a “high watching” experience. I would advise you to avoid extremely intense subjects like horror or thriller as well as slow, dialogue heavy dramas. As we are all trapped at home for the foreseeable future, I have compiled a list of the 5 best movies on Netflix for “high watching.”
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
A cult favorite of both the alt-rock world and the video game world, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is everything you didn’t know you needed in a love story. The epic fight scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat, the 8-bit and comic book-style visuals will leave you speechless, and the soundtrack will have you singing along for days.
OVERTHINKERS BEWARE. Inception is the movie on this list that will turn your brain upside down. This Christopher Nolan masterpiece changes the way you think about love, life, dreams, and reality. Plus, it has some super trippy visuals that are worth checking out.
An all time classic. How can you go wrong with the matrix? The fight scenes and choreography alone are enough to watch, not to mention an all-world Keanu Reeves performance. Here’s a fun game: in the regular world of this movie, lots of things look like the green code you see as ‘the matrix’, try and find them!
City of God
A lesser known pick, this Brazilian crime drama will seriously change your life. The fast paced story of drugs, growing up, and photography of all things will keep you thoroughly entertained and the vivid colors of the Brazilian slums make the visuals of the movie out of this world. Definitely worth reading the subtitles.
Cheech and Chong: Up in Smoke
C’mon, how could I not put this here? This is an all time cannabis classic that every smoker should see at least once. I promise you are sure to laugh at least ironically if not earnestly.
