One of the hot topics surrounding marijuana use in legal states is how to test drivers who might be driving under the influence and proving they are high. Currently, there is no science that can accurately do this.
Police are trained in using a 12 step method to determine if a driver is impaired due to drugs, and while it works for some drugs, it is not reliable for marijuana–as marijuana components can be found in the body days and sometimes weeks after usage.
Once science continues to improve, we will continue to see this practice improve, but for now, police and judges are making their own judgements, which can be dangerous and sometimes, flat out wrong. So, do not drive under the influence and make sure you consume your marijuana in a safe environment.
